3D Wines attended the Three Wine Men wine ‘road trip’ in York on 26th and 27th September. This is a wine show run by TV wine personalities Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin MW and Olly Smith. Tim and Olly often do the wine feature on the Saturday Kitchen. Oz is probably the best-known wine critic of all due to his time spent on the BBC Food and Drink programme, as well as the highly entertaining TV series ‘Big Wine Adventure’ with James May.
York was sunny and warm and we were in a marquee set in the beautiful grounds of the Minster itself. On Friday evening and all day Saturday around 1,000 people attended, young and old, to taste their way through over 600 wines shown by some 30 exhibitors, including Berry Brothers Rudd, The Wine Society and ourselves, of course.
I’m delighted to say that of the eight wines we exhibited, all gathered considerable attention by those who tasted them. In fact both Oz Clarke and Tim Atkin described our new Chablis from Domaine Vrignaud as one of the best wines in the show. They also stated that our Côte de Nuits- Villages blanc 2012 from Domaine Désertaux-Ferrand was ‘absolutely stunning’.
Oz Clarke remembered 3D Wines from a grape picking event we were holding at Domaine de la Chevalerie in the Loire Valley way back in 1999. As he tasted our Bourgueil 2009 on the stand, he waxed lyrical about the moment he first met Pierre Caslot in his deep dark cellars whilst filming at the vineyard for the Food and Drink programme on BBC2. It was remarkable how lucid he was about an event some 15 years ago! He mixed with potential customers and told them they should sign up to the 3D wine club!
And so we move on to the Three Wine Men show held in Westminster on December 6th and 7th. Do come along if you can!
